My Liberty Journey

Isaac Kent’s journey to Liberty was a natural progression of his training philosophy. After performing bridleless, he became increasingly drawn to the refinement required when communication moves beyond equipment. That experience sparked his interest in Liberty and deepened his focus on feel, timing, and true mental engagement.

As he explored Liberty, Isaac noticed the benefits carry directly into his colt starting work. The emphasis on intention, body control, and influencing a horse without relying on equipment sharpened his timing and raised his standard for softness and understanding in his young horses. Liberty also became a game changer in the development and rehabilitation of problem horses, allowing him to rebuild confidence and responsiveness through clarity and connection rather than force. Liberty did not replace his program—it strengthened it.

In the spring of 2025, Isaac formally stepped into Liberty competition. That same year, he competed at the International Liberty Horse Festival, earning Pro Division Champion – Training Level Liberty Distinguished and Liberty Horse Novice Champion in his first season.

For Isaac, Liberty is not separate from colt starting—it is the natural extension of it: a measure of communication, trust, and the quality of the work established long before the halter comes off.
